Whoopi Goldberg discusses her sexual orientation following Raven-Symoné’s comments about sensing “lesbian vibes” from her.

Whoopi Goldberg, aged 67, has portrayed LGBT characters in fictional roles in the past, but her own sexuality is distinct. The co-host of “The View” made an appearance on Raven-Symoné’s podcast, “The Best Podcast Ever,” on August 20, where they engaged in a discussion about sexuality. In a light-hearted manner, Raven-Symoné, her former co-host, playfully remarked around the 41-minute mark, “Honestly, when I was around you, I loved you so much, like I just wanted to be up underneath the breasts the whole time. But that’s also because you just kind of gave me lesbian vibes!”

Continuing the playful exchange, Raven added, “But sometimes, Whoop, you give me lesbian vibes, you give me stud vibes.” Whoopi Goldberg, a recipient of the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards), promptly clarified that she does not identify as a lesbian. She explained, “Women have been asking me this for as long as I’ve been around. I am not a lesbian. But I know lots of them, and I’ve played them on television. But I have always had lesbian friends because they’re just my friends.”

Whoopi elaborated on her personal boundaries when interacting with her LGBT friends, stating, “I’m not gonna kiss you, but I’ll kiss you over here, I’ll do this but I’m not going to do this… And they’re like, ‘OK!’” During the conversation, Raven’s wife and co-host, Miranda Maday, humorously speculated that Raven desires more people to come out as LGBT, to which Raven responded with amusement.

The discussion shifted to Whoopi’s presentation of herself over the years, which Raven-Symoné praised. Raven expressed appreciation for the way Whoopi blends both masculine and feminine aspects. She remarked, “There is something beautiful about a woman being able to embrace their masculine and feminine at the same time and wear it so well, like you do.” Raven applauded Whoopi’s ability to exist beyond binary labels and stereotypes.

Fans reacted to the podcast video’s conversation between the two entertainers. One admirer commented, “I could see bi or maybe even lesbian but she just gives me that strong auntie with all the wisdom and tea vibes.” Another admirer, while appreciating the discussion, humorously expressed their anticipation for “Sister Act 3,” saying, “Never wondered about Whoopi’s sexuality, I’m just waiting for another Sister Act.” It’s worth noting that Whoopi Goldberg has been married three times, including to Lyle Trachtenberg, David Claessen, and Alvin Martin.
