Day 1:

Embarking on the journey to Meghalaya, we reached Guwahati. With meticulous planning, I pre-booked a Swift Desire CAB at 4000 Rs per day, covering all expenses. The 3-hour drive from Guwahati to Shillong included a one-hour break at Umiam Lake. After reaching our accommodation, I rested for 2 hours before exploring Police Bazar for enjoyable shopping.

Day 2

On the second day, we kicked off our morning with a delightful breakfast—to be precise, a Bread Omelet 🙂 and then proceeded directly to my first destination:

  1. Shillong Peak: This peak provides a sweeping view of Shillong city amidst lush greenery. Tickets, priced at 100 per person, inclusive of parking, need to be purchased at a counter located approximately 2 km before reaching the viewpoint. It’s worth noting that, due to the area being under Army jurisdiction, private vehicles are not permitted, and a short drive to the viewpoint is arranged.
  2. Sacred Forest Mawphlang: Another notable destination is the Sacred Forest, also known as the Sacred Grove in Mawphlang. Its sanctity arises from the fact that this 78-hectare expanse is safeguarded by the local deity, Labasa. Admission is priced at 460 Rs for two individuals, covering parking as well. Upon entry, a guide is provided to enhance your experience by offering insights into the captivating culture and various aspects of the forest.
  3. Elephant Falls: Elephant Falls stands as a testament to Meghalaya’s scenic beauty, making it a popular stop for nature enthusiasts and tourists exploring the region. Ticket to this place is again 100 for 2 persons.
  4. Ward’s Lake in Shillong is a charming artificial lake surrounded by lush gardens. Boating facilities are available on the lake, and a picturesque wooden bridge adds to its beauty. The entry fee to this garden is Rs 20 per head, and boating is Rs 200 per person for 30 minutes.

Day 3

We journeyed from Shillong to Dawki, renowned for its crystal-clear Umngot River, one of South Asia’s cleanest. The river’s transparency allows a clear view of its bed, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. Dawki is famous for boating, and a nearby suspension bridge enhances the scenic beauty. The boat ride is priced at 800 for two individuals, showcasing the exceptionally clear water that made a lasting impression. Notably, many professional photographers from Bangladesh visit, attracted by its proximity to the India-Bangladesh border. Following the captivating view of Dawki, we visited the Living Root Bridge before exploring Asia’s cleanest village.

Day 4 and 5: We began the day with an exhilarating ziplining adventure in Shora (Cherapunji), where we indulged in a two-night, three-day stay. During this time, we had the opportunity to marvel at various natural wonders, including iconic waterfalls like NohKaLikai Falls, 7 Sister Falls, and Kynrem Falls. Additionally, we explored different caves, immersing ourselves in the unparalleled beauty of the world’s wettest place on earth. This extended stay allowed for a more immersive experience, capturing the essence of Cherapunji’s unique charm and natural splendor.

Day 6: We returned to Guwahati and enjoyed a 3-hour cruise at the ALFRESCO GRAND Cruise for 1700 Rs per person, including a dinner buffet.
